GS Football Coverage

From the beginning of the 2017 season to spring 2021, I covered Georgia Southern football, first for The George-Anne and most recently for the Savannah Morning News. Here is a collection of features, analysis and weekly coverage.

“We’re a bunch of good guys that love to compete, love to win and love to help the team out in any way we can.”
A position battle began on the first day of spring practice ahead of the 2021 season. My analysis with the three guys vying for the job.

After I broke the news that GS would be hosting UMass, I took a look at how new athletic director Jared Benko managed to schedule a game midseason.

“We have a standard here at Georgia Southern and we failed to meet that today.”
Injuries caught up with the Eagles in a 34-26 loss to App State Saturday night, despite Miller Mosley’s will to win.

Following Doug Ruse being named interim offensive coordinator with three games left in the season, I talked with former players about what Ruse brings to the table.

“Heck of a year with the COVID situation, social injustice, it’s been a long year, but we stuck together and we finished the right way. That’s all that matters.”

My recap of the 2020 season including what went right, what didn’t, who’s coming back next year, what the schedule looks like next year and more.

With just more than a week before the 2020 season was scheduled to begin, the football team took a day off to participate and lead the 'March For Change.'
